Write for Fashion Brands Without Sounding Boring
Tired of the same old fashion phrases? Learn how to write fresh, fun, and high-converting fashion copy that sets your brand apart—without sounding cliché. Real examples + expert tips included!
Writing for fashion can be fun — but also tricky.
A lot of brands use the same words over and over again. Like:
“𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘵-𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦”
“𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦”
“𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵”
Sound familiar? That’s because many fashion ads sound the same.
But great fashion writing should sound special — just like your brand.
Let’s learn how to write cool, creative words that help fashion brands stand out and sell more.
💡 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐖𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐡é 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬
Cliché means words that are used too much. They feel old and boring.
Let’s look at an example:
❌ “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯’𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵-𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘳”
✅ “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 — 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬.”
Which one is more exciting? The second one, right?
When we use fresh and fun words, people pay attention.
💖 1. 𝖪𝗇𝗈𝗐 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖡𝗋𝖺𝗇𝖽’𝗌 𝖲𝗍𝗒𝗅𝖾 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝖥𝖾𝖾𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗀: Before writing anything, ask:
What kind of people wear this?
How do they feel when they wear it?
Is the brand cool, soft, bold, funny?
Example:
A brand like 𝐀𝐘𝐑 doesn’t just say “𝘞𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴.”
They say: “𝘞𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘭, 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦.”
That feels different and strong!
✨ 2. 𝖳𝖾𝗅𝗅 𝖲𝗍𝗈𝗋𝗂𝖾𝗌, 𝖭𝗈𝗍 𝖩𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝖥𝖺𝖼𝗍𝗌: Don’t just say what the item is — tell us how it feels.
Example:
Instead of:
❌ “𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘤𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴”
Try: ✅ “𝘈 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴.”
That sounds like something someone wants to wear, right?
🌈 3. 𝖴𝗌𝖾 𝖥𝖺𝗌𝗁𝗂𝗈𝗇 𝖳𝗋𝖾𝗇𝖽𝗌 𝗂𝗇 𝖺 𝖥𝗎𝗇 𝖶𝖺𝗒: Trends like “𝙱𝚊𝚛𝚋𝚒𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚛𝚎” or “𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚎𝚝 𝚕𝚞𝚡𝚞𝚛𝚢” are popular — but make sure to say them in your own way.
Example:
Instead of:
❌ “𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘰𝘸”
Try: ✅ “𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 — 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴.”
You’re still using the trend, but with your own twist!
🧵 4. 𝖴𝗌𝖾 𝖥𝗎𝗇 𝖶𝗈𝗋𝖽𝗌 𝖳𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖯𝖾𝗈𝗉𝗅𝖾 𝖫𝗂𝗄𝖾: Some words are just exciting to read. They make people stop and look.
Try words like:
🔥 Cool
🔥 Bold
🔥 Chill
🔥 Power move
🔥 Main character energy
🔥 Cozy vibes
🔥 Drip-worthy
Example: “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳.”
That sounds warm and friendly! And it sells the feeling, not just the fabric.
🛍️ 5. 𝖳𝖺𝗅𝗄 𝖫𝗂𝗄𝖾 𝖺 𝖲𝗍𝗒𝗅𝗂𝗌𝗍, 𝖭𝗈𝗍 𝖺 𝖲𝖺𝗅𝖾𝗌𝗉𝖾𝗋𝗌𝗈𝗇: People don’t want to be sold to. They want help with looking good.
Example:
Instead of:
❌ “𝘉𝘶𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘸 — 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 $29.99!”
Try: ✅ “𝘚𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘴 — 𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵.”
You’re giving ideas, not just shouting a price. That’s more helpful — and sells better too!
